COLOR YOUR PAPERS LIKE MINE:

F.A.Q.

What kind of paper did I use for the cover?

I used very cheap newsprint paper. Mostly I chose this paper for demonstration of the book covering technique, and because it is large enough to cover the entire book as needed. You can use whatever paper you'd like so long as it is large enough. If you'd like to use it keep in mind that it is a very low quality paper and therefore is not acidfree, meaning it may discolour slightly over time. I've seen newsprint paper pads for sale at the dollar storethey look like children art padsyou can also find it at an office supply store or an art supply store but you will obviously pay more than from the dollar store. Check out how I colour (dye) my plain paper in the above linked blog post.

Where can I buy a BONE FOLDER?

You can find a bone folder pretty much anywhere card making and scrapbooking supplies are sold. Try Walmart, a craft store like Michaels, or a local art supply store. You can DEFINITELY find them on amazon if all else fails.

Do I have to use a BONE FOLDER? Can I use a ruler, popsicle stick, credit card?

A bone folder is the best option because of its very smooth edges and finish. It will not catch on and bubbles or crinkles and tear your paper when it is damp from glue, even when using quite a bit of pressure. It is meant for smoothly paper in these situations, as well as scoring and folding papers for crisp, clean folds and edges. You can try a ruler, popsicle stick, or credit card if you really don't want to purchase a bone folder, just keep in mind that your paper may end up tearing, and the results may not end up as nice as when using the proper tool; a bone folder. Although bone folders are relatively inexpensive.
