Howzit?

check engine light on 2000 Chrysler Voyager / Dodge Caravan / Grand OBD 2 TCM ECM Error Codes P0700 P0731 Transmission Speed Sensor fixed w Sony Webbie HD vLog.

had a problem with check engine soon and service light stays on. by default from the factory, tranny goes into failsafe mode. symptoms are tachometer going nutz, tranny stuck at 2nd gear, speedometer inop, tranny shifting funny, sucky gas mileage, etc.

found out that it's caused by a faulty tranny output speed sensor module. anything is or going to happen is recorded in a memory of onboard computer in a series of error codes. need an OBD 2 scanner to read it and clear the memory of error messages. if not darn check engine light stays on, forever... until

friend who is a mechanic help me to replace the faulty module. repaired for less than $20.00. rebuilt tranny for my Betsy is $1130 with core exchange. saved big bucks for now... check engine light is gone, too. woohoo!

enjoy.

* UPDATE
after replacing the transmission OUTPUT speed sensor, the old transmission INPUT speed sensor committed suicide couple of days later. the shadow, old check engine light came back on.. so is the tranny failsafe mode crap!
so today, Labor Day, i went and bought the new transmission INPUT speed sensor ($20)and replaced it... adios, check engine light.

I didn't use the OBD II scanner to clear the memory this time. just unhook the battery cable for the duration of the time to replace the INPUT sensor... lube the sensor with tranny fluid, make sure to use 26mm or 1" socket, and don't over tighten, it's plastic...

me & my Betsy is happy once more and doing the Barbie...

p.s.
input sensor is about a foot left of the output sensor below two 1/2" tubes...

my betsy died on Thanksgiving Day, 28Nov13. I was on the VA N81 and it was snowing very hard. she got a massive heart attack. I guess it reminded her of Germany in winter. tranny started to slip on 'D' so I put on 3rd gear. that didn't last long.
betsy couldn't do anything but roll 510 mph. I've donated her to a charity and she will be towed on Tuesday 03Dec13 to her final resting place.
betsy and I did the tour of duty in Germany from 2001 to 2004. we've hit the wind in GE, CZ, AUS, & IT. we had plenty of good times together pissing off Germans, Czechs, Austrians, and Italians on the autobahn as a newbdriving! LOL. RIP betsy!
thanks.
