In March of 2016, at the age of 28, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, and days later, under the knife having lifesaving ileostomy surgery.

The purpose of this site and of these videos is very simple. Prior to my surgery I received very little information on stomas, my surgery and what to expect in the days following. It was a very new experience for me. As I fully imagine it is for you. I would go through symptoms and emotions that are in fact perfectly normal, but at the time I couldn’t help but think something was constantly wrong. “Am I healing right? Should I be feeling like this?”. All I really needed was the reassurance that everything was OK, that everything was going to be OK.

I’m hoping these videos can provide you with that valuable information. To ease concerns you may have presurgery, postsurgery and your home recovery for living with a stoma.
