This makes it a natural laboratory for both physical and social science researchers working to understand the risk posed by the Hikurangi Subduction Zone.
East Coast LAB – Hikurangi Subduction Zone Magnitude 9 is a communityfocused project, based in Te MatauaMāui/Hawkes Bay, that brokers the connection between research, emergency management, iwi, hapū and the wider community to ensure a wellcoordinated, equitable, and researchbased approach to building resilience.
