Sguru Miyaji began studying music at the age of 6. Won a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and also completed a study of jazz improvisation with Jerry Bergonzi. After graduating from Berklee he moved to NY, and began his musical career with Evelyn Blakey (vo), Denis Charles (ds), Bruce Barth (p), Tito Puente (timb), Jorge Rossi (ds),John Stetch (p),etc at Jazz clubs such as “Bird Land”. He came back to Japan in 1996, and began gigging in the Tokyo area. Sguru has supported many bands also performed on many recording projects & TV shows. As well as tenor sax he also plays soprano sax, clarinet, flute, and more.
