Kagyu Samye Dzong Randburg South Africa
The Kagyu centres of Southern Africa are in the lineage of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje, head of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. They are currently under the guidance of Abbot Choje Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche. Our centres were founded by Akong Tulku Rinpoche and are branches of Kagyu Samye Ling. Samye Ling was founded in 1967 in Scotland, and is the first Tibetan Buddhist Centre to have been established in the West.
Our centres in Africa have been active since the early 1970s. Rob Nairn is Akong Rinpoche’s representative in Africa.
We currently are one of the few centres to offer regular weekly online Dharma talks on a Monday morning and Tuesday evening, as well as hosting a weekly insight meditation group, Lojong group and Green Tara group.
