This is the most popular system in the western world particularly the United States and Europe. However, most people aren't aware that it does not use the actual constellations in the sky. Instead, it is based on the seasons.

Roughly 2000 years ago the constellations in the sky matched with the seasons. During this time the Sun was always entering Aries during the Spring Equinox. However, the stars have slowly changed location relative to Earth's seasons.
