This channel is dedicated to widening the democratic space in The Gambia within existing norms and values, while at the same time serving to educate the populace away from nonprogressive ideas and the gradual embrace of positive new ideas.
After 22 years of tyranny and oppression, Gambians stood up to their bully in chief in a democratic, nonviolent election and voted for change. Years of lack of civic education has left large sections of the population uninformed as to what the new dispensation means and what their expectations should be. Some feel their values and long held traditions are under threat from the trend of democratic change, which to their mind means the promotion of western ideals and hence the need to resist it. A lot of the discourse on democratic governance tend to downplay these fears or not give it the needed relevance. We aim to reverse that on this channel.
