最近、世界がとても窮屈に感じるようになったと思い始めている踏切たちがいました。そんな彼らは、なぜか、自分たちの身体を小さく折りたたんでコンパクトな体型を維持するようになりました。しかし、そのことで鉄道運行に大きな問題が生まれ始めていました。

救急車で運ばれてきたコンパクトな踏切は、自在に体を折り畳んで遊んでいました。それを見ていた電車が今度は、自分もと考えて、コンパクトに折り畳んで遊び始めました。すると、ついには、救急車までもが、体をコンパクトにし始めました。
The compact railroad crossing carried by the ambulance was playing with the body folded freely. The train that was watching it , thinking about myself, folded it compactly and started playing. Eventually, even ambulances began to make their bodies compact.

都会の外れの鉄道には、古くなって動かなくなった踏切や変形して仕事をしなくなった踏切が、パトカーで運ばれていました。その日もパトカーは荷台に踏切をたくさん載せて走っていました。ところが、思わぬアクシデントが起きて、荷台に積まれていた台の踏切が転げ落ちてしまいました。この台の踏切は、遊び心が豊富で、警報を鳴らして電車を踊らせてしまうのでした。さらに・・・
