Galeazzi sign:
These signs become strong indicators of DDH in the older infant when the Ortolani or Barlow maneuvers are no longer reliable.
Galeazzi test, sometimes also referred to as the Allis sign or the Skyline test, is used mainly to assess for hip dislocation, fundamentally to test for developmental dysplasia of the hip. Allis’ sign is typical used in adults to determine if leg length discrepancy is present.
Procedure:
1 Infant’s is supine with hips flexed 45° and knees flexed 90°, until feet are in contact with the surface and ankles are in contact with the buttocks.
2 Examiner then observes for the level of the knees.
In older children who are ambulatory, DDH is usually diagnosed by an abnormal gait pattern.
Children with unilateral DDH exhibit a positive Trendelenburg sign, and children with bilateral DDH walk with a waddle.
