The 100 Project

Discover the momentous occasion of the opening of Parliament House in Canberra in 1927 through the eyes of a boy who, at the age of 10, was encouraged by his father to cherish this historic event and share his memories with future generations.

Colin's early curiosity and passion for building crystal radio sets set him on a path to join the Australian forces before the onset of World War II. Colin shares his unique experiences as a signals instructor and his time in Borneo in an antiaircraft regiment.

A keen photographer, Colin documented significant moments of history during his service. In this video, he recounts the surrender of the Japanese Imperial Army’s LieutGeneral Masao Baba in 1945. Supported by his own photographs, Colin provides a compelling firsthand account of this pivotal event, challenging the established narratives and shedding light on the complexities of war.
