17yearold student pilot, Maggie Taraska, had just taken off from Beverly Regional Airport in Massachusetts for her first solo crosscountry flight, headed for Portland, Maine. But, just a few minutes into the flight, her plane, a Piper PA28, lost its right main wheel.

A pilot on the ground saw the wheel fall off the plane and contacted air traffic control, who then contacted Maggie.
