Piper Cub serial 20304 was purchased new in December '46 by Texas rancher Charles Moseley. Charles, and one daughter, Charlotte, earned their licenses in the Piper and used it as a utility plane. In 1950, after ranch operations were reduced, it was pushed into its barn hangar at the corner of a cotton field after a short flight. The hangar doors were closed and the young Cub was put into darkness. Fiftynine years later Jared Calvert discovered the barn find and removed it from its longtime home. The Cub had not been in sunlight since Harry Truman was President. Total time on the aircraft was only 197 hours.

Over a sixteenmonth fulltime effort Barn Cub was restored as close to factory as practical while using the Poly Fiber covering system. In April 2012 Jared departed Texas in Barn Cub on a six month odyssey that would eventually take him to each of the lower 48 all without a plan.

*Jared crashed Barn Cub during the trip at his 19th state, completing the journey in a borrowed Cub. Barn Cub is being rebuilt. The fuselage has been repaired and is currently on its gear.
