Waxahachie, Texas was a great place to watch trains over many years. There were two agencies in town located within a few steps of each other. Both served as passenger depots and soon after passenger service ended, the BRI agency closed. The MKT agency served both railroads until the late 1970's. After the Katy was sold to the Union Pacific Railroad, the MKT mainline from Waxahachie to Hillsboro was abandoned and the track removed.
