North America’s quintessential land yacht got a full rework for the 1991 model year. It was still a monster that wallowed through corners and needed constant steering correction. The fact it was given a huge whack with the ugly stick and had a 5.0L V8 made just 170 horsepower — any selfrespecting fourcylinder makes that today, and returns way better fuel economy. So far it sounds like a disaster, but the reality was back then if you needed to drive across Canada, few other vehicles offered the same level of comfort, stretchout space and, dare I say, reliability.
It's loss will never be lamented, but at the time it served a purpose.
