The 1999 Atlantic Hurricane Season was a average to near above average hurricane season. The season had 5 category4 hurricanes tied with 2005 & 2020 for the most in 1 season on record. 1999 was notable for many storms, one of them, Bret struck Texas as a Category 3equivalent hurricane but because of the sparsely populated area and low damagedeath count Bret caused, it wasn’t retired. Floyd caused an economic disaster across the East Coast after peaking as a high end Category 4. Hurricane Lenny caused heavy damage across the Lesser Antilles going in an unusual eastwards direction across the Caribbean Sea. 1999 ended up being the final year of the 20th century bringing us into the new millennium.
