EAST COAST SAILING

Hi & welcome back to East Coast Sailing. This episode shows our first sail of 2024. We finally got our new custom genoa back from Jeckells with our personalised logos printed on after ordering it in October 2023. The sail damage was caused by an unexpected squall that caught us off guard. The head sail got jammed due to a slack uphaul halyard which prevented the sail being pulled in during the height of the winds. The winds maxed out at 35 knots with a full sail out. Not ideal considering we had only just brough the boat. Buying this 34 boat is a massive upgrade from my last 22 foot Newbridge Venturer. Im still learning the ropes on this boat.

Come and join us on a gentle, sunny wintery sail in January 2024 as we explore the river Black Water in England Essex.

I should have listened to Jeckells the sail maker about overlaying text directly over text on the opposite side of the sail. It obscures the text with bright sunshine behind it as both sides of text can be seen at once. All in all I'm really pleased with the sail and its nice to be out enjoying the boat rather than fixing or installing something.

This was our 4th sail out on the boat since purchasing her in September 2023. I didn't get as much use out of her over Christmas due to 2 storms and 2 weeks of sustained 40MPH winds so this outing was highly anticipated after being cooped up over Christmas.

Thanks for watching, All the best Rob!!
