It’s been a couple of months since last we last checked in on Caltrain’s Stadler KISS EMUs testing. We last saw them testing only between San Jose and Mountain View. (Links below) But in the last few months, test runs have expanded for testing to run the full line (Between San Francisco to San Jose, California, U.S.A) and at max track speed of 80MPH (128KM) with their Overhead wire infrastructure fully operation and energized; there lies the plot of this video.

During testing, only one train set is out doing test runs, most runs are conducted in the middle of the night. But this weekend, June 8 & 9, Caltrain is conducting observation mainly for their OCS (Overhead Catenary System), a stress test, to see how the system functions and reacts to MULTIPLE…EMUs running along the entire system at the same time. Caltrain has a total of 10 sets in their possession (with more on the way from the Stadler facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A.) with 8 being certified/ ready to begin service after testing/running equivalent to 10,000 miles. Let’s watch as we take a look at testing and a look at what a normal day will look like when Caltrain’s Stadler EMUs enter service in September 2024. 8 train sets were out testing with lots of horn action!
