The 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season was an extremely destructive, deadly, and active hurricane season. The season is most known for hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria which caused billions of dollars' worth of damage and many deaths. The 2017 season was well above average producing 218.4250 Accumulated Cyclone Energy. (ACE)

The season as a whole is the costliest Atlantic hurricane season on record with a price tag of over 294.8 billion dollars. The season's accumulated 218.4250 units of accumulated cyclone places it at the 7th highest on record in the Atlantic. The season's ACE was 177.6% of average, classifying 2017 as a hyperactive season. The season produced 6 major hurricanes which is double the longterm climatological average and one short of the record held by the 2020 season.

Bret Earliest named storm to develop in the Main Development Region.
Harvey Costliest natural disaster in Texas history until eclipsed by a winter storm in 2021, tied for costliest Atlantic hurricane on record. First US landfalling major hurricane since 2005.
Irma First recorded category 5 landfall in the Leeward Islands and regarded as the worst storm to impact the islands. Tied with hurricane Janet 1955 as the 7th most intense landfalling hurricane in the basin and the costliest Cuban hurricane on record.
Maria Strongest storm of the season. Deadliest hurricane in the Atlantic since hurricane Mitch in 1998.
Nate Fastest moving tropical cyclone in the Gulf of Mexico at 29mph.
Ophelia Easternmost major hurricane on record in the Atlantic. Worst storm to strike Ireland in 50 years.
