Here's the first racing video of the 2021 season! This was the second race of the California Mountain Bike Series at Vail Lake in Temecula.

I'm doing crosscountry endurance events this season in preparation for a stage race later this summer. So that means I'm experimenting with my longdistance pacing. At the first race, which I did not record, I had paced myself conservatively throughout the laps, keeping my power under the threshold, and was able to finish strong. Then at this race, I experimented with starting fast to see how I would feel at the end.

I did not feel good at the end. I think my overall time suffered more from the slower pace at the end than it benefitted from the time saved earlier.
