In this AP Daily: Live Review session, we will identify key elements within the three rows of the freeresponse scoring guidelines: Thesis, Evidence and Commentary, and Sophistication. We’ll go over ways to ensure that essays receive the highest possible score by targeting nonnegotiable features. We’ll review what constitutes a thesis statement, how we should present evidence, the role of commentary and literary elements/techniques, and what constitutes a line of reasoning. We’ll discuss an essay reflection protocol that helps identify gaps in an essay’s alignment to the scoring guidelines.
