In the Alfa Romeo Tonale Edizione Speciale version, Hybrid engine option is offered: 1.5 lt petrol 160hp variable geometry Turbo engine, dualclutch 7speed Alfa Romeo TCT transmission and 48Volt "P2" electric motor.

In the first phase, the Tonale is offered as a frontwheel drive 160HP Hybrid VGT version with a new 4cylinder 1.5liter turbo petrol engine with 160 HP and 240 Nm of peak torque, accompanied by a special 7speed dualclutch automatic transmission and integrated 48Volt 15Volt. It is offered with a kW 55Nm ''P2'' electric motor. It makes it possible for the 1.5 liter petrol engine to move the wheels even when the combustion engine is turned off.

Alfa Romeo chose this technical solution to offer an original electric driving experience. The transmission allows starting in electric mode, driving in electric mode at low speeds during parking and cruising, offering the typical performance of gasoline engines as well as providing a consumption level comparable to diesel engines (gasoline + electricity). It combines this action with a highly linear power transfer and excellent acceleration.
