A direct rival for the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid – as well as the plugin hybrid MG HS and Mitsubishi Outlander – this allnew midsize SUV ticks all the boxes in terms of size, equipment levels, powertrain options and price.
 
Priced from $48,990 plus onroad costs, the twograde BYD Sealion 6 range opens with the entrylevel Dynamic variant and closes with the more powerful Premium flagship, which costs $52,990 plus ORCs and delivers more than 200kW of power.
 
Plugin hybrid midsize SUVs haven’t exactly captured the imagination of Aussie car buyers, so can BYD buck the trend with the first of several PHEV models it plans to launch here , as part of its stunning Australian market ambitions ?
