This new dualcab 4x4 ute is the first (plugless petrolelectric) hybrid pickup to enter this traditionally turbodiesel domain, and the Chinesebuilt Cannon Alpha Ultra is also luxuriously equipped and keenly priced.

So in many ways it’s a very interesting proposition, but is it actually good enough to pose a threat to stars of the category, such as the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux?
