The mission of the Tuolumne Historical Railroad Association (THRA) is to preserve, enhance, and interpret the rich railroad history of Tuolumne County, California, and the surrounding region.

Part of this mission is achieved by putting on an annual event called the Sierra Seminar. In years past, the Sierra Seminar was one day of presentations about the history of the area, photography of the trains of Tuolumne County, and clinics about modeling logging railroads. In 2024, a banquet was added to the event.

The THRA's first annual banquet was held on April 20, 2024. The featured speaker was Scott McGhee from the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, who gave an engaging presentation about The West Side Lumber Company and their Shay locomotives.

The YMSPRR has two of the West Side Lumber Company's original Shays in its operating roster, and Scott is very knowledgeable person about their heritage. The presentation contains historical information about the West Side Lumber Company's equipment as well as information about the current state of both No. 10 and No. 15.
