The Mustang GTD emerges from a collaborative effort between Ford and Multimatic, the minds behind the Mustang GT3, Mustang GT4, and the victorious Ford GT at Le Mans. This automobile stands as the pinnacle of engineering progress, a culmination derived from years of learning through competitive racing endeavors. Through meticulous craftsmanship and precision engineering, it is set to carve its name into the annals of both Mustang and Ford history.

Underneath its sleek exterior, the Mustang GTD houses a specially crafted supercharged 5.2liter V8 engine equipped with dual air inlets. This powerhouse represents the zenith of streetlegal Mustangs in terms of horsepower, a testament to Ford's ingenuity.

A unique facet of the Mustang GTD lies within its utilization of a drysump engine oil system, a pioneering feature for a roadworthy Mustang. This innovation ensures that the engine remains welllubricated even during intense and sustained cornering maneuvers, maintaining peak performance throughout.

As the engine's tachometer needle races past the 7,500 RPM mark, an orchestra of extraordinary tones resonates from the available titanium active valve exhaust system, a symphony born from engineering excellence.

The Mustang GTD's performance prowess is not confined solely to raw power. Its shortlong arm front suspension configuration augments lateral rigidity, particularly during highG cornering scenarios. Meanwhile, the rear suspension boasts an ingenious integral link pushrod and rocker arm structure. This arrangement accommodates Adaptive Spool Valve shock absorbers and coil over springs arranged horizontally within a robust and lightweight motorsportstyle tubular subframe. The outcome is a motion ratio of 1:1 from pushrod to damper, resulting in unparalleled responsiveness that adapts diligently to track nuances.

To the delight of handling enthusiasts, the Mustang GTD derives its roadhugging capability and cornering stability from sizeable 325 millimeter front tires – akin in width to the rear tires of the Ford GT – and even broader 345 millimeter rear tires. These formidable rubber companions are mounted on either 20inch forged aluminum wheels or the available forged magnesium wheels. The magnesium variants embody the optimal fusion of weight and sturdiness, their design mirroring the aesthetics of the Mustang GT3 race car.

Nestled behind these wheels are the substantial BremboTM carbon ceramic brakes, strategically engineered to disperse heat and ensure unwavering stopping power, permitting later and more consistent braking into the heart of corners. Cooling ducts positioned beneath the rear suspension assist in dissipating rear brake heat.

Mobilizing the Mustang GTD is a feat accomplished by channeling power from the engine to the rear wheels through a carbon fiber driveshaft, firmly connected to an 8speed rear transaxle. This configuration begets nearperfect 50/50 weight distribution between the front and rear, a strategic maneuver arrived at through rigorous laptime simulations and powertrain dyno testing.

The pursuit of excellence doesn't cease with mechanics alone. A cuttingedge semiactive suspension system adds an additional layer of performance refinement. This technology empowers the manipulation of spring rates and ride height, a potent combination for enhancing onroad and ontrack capabilities independently. The adaptive spool valve damper mechanism, with its dual spring rates and adjustable height, delivers two distinct states, each augmenting performance in its unique context. Moreover, the suspension's adaptability enables a nearly 40 mm lower ride height in Track Mode and expands the track width by nearly four inches compared to the Mustang GT.

In terms of availability, the Mustang GTD will grace the market in limited numbers, and its price point is projected to initiate around $300,000 MSRP. This price tag corresponds to the rumored 800 horsepower that lurks beneath its meticulously crafted exterior.
