According to a Toyota Australia executive, the 2025 Toyota Hilux will launch in 2019. Below are preliminary information regarding its available engine choices. Australia will see the release of the next generation Toyota Hilux in 2025. Certain information regarding the new model's engine was revealed in an interview with Sean Hanley, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Toyota Australia. Australian consumers are worried about the increasingly stringent emissions regulations, and Hanley responded, "You'll have to wait until 2025," when asked about the engine of the upcoming 9th generation Hilux. Although it's early and Toyota is renowned for keeping things close to the vest, it's indisputable that the arrival of the new Ford Ranger and the following confirmation that it will be a plugin hybrid bakkie must have raised some eyebrows. We are aware that Toyota offers a wide variety of engines, but we choose not to remark on the new 2025 Toyota Hilux powertrain. The presence of diesel engines, including the recently launched 48V mild hybrid engines, is practically a given. However, it is important to acknowledge the brand's vast background in hybrid powertrain development. There, the Toyota Tacoma boasts a 2.4liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 243 kW and 630 Nm when combined with a 36 kW electric motor. The 2.5liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with a hybrid system, which produces 176 kW and powers all four wheels, is an additional engine to take into account. This latter motor was used in the Crown, which was a very limitededition local product. It has been verified that Toyota is currently developing plugin and hybrid technologies for their light commercial vehicles. But battery technology is developing, and it is doing so swiftly. If we can get a PHEV to be able to drive 200+ kilometers on BEV alone, that would be fantastic. To put it another way, if I had a Hilux, I can just drive about town on BEV and still be fairly carbonneutral as long as I use renewable energy to power it. Although we anticipate that South African Hilux buyers will always choose diesel, it's becoming more and more likely that the 2025 Toyota Hilux will introduce some very advanced petrolhybrid technology.
