In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about The Tolland Man, also known as the Tollund Man, is a wellpreserved bog body that was discovered in a bog near the village of Tollund, Denmark, in 1950. The body was found by peat cutters who were working in the bog, and it is believed to be over 2,300 years old.
The Tolland Man is one of the bestpreserved bog bodies in the world, and his wellpreserved state has allowed researchers to study him in great detail. He was found wearing a pointed cap made of sheepskin and a belt made of cowhide, and his body was wrapped in a sheepskin cloak. His arms and legs were bound with braided strips of leather.
Forensic examination of the Tolland Man's remains indicated that he was around 30 years old at the time of his death, and that he had been hanged.
