These four hands conquer the challenges of Mt Qi

Zhuge Liang: We have come a long way. Our provisions are scarce. Sima Yi has met us on this challenging terrain of Mt Qi, but I will not give up without a fight. It will take some time for Sima Yi to arrive to assume command of the defense; I must act quickly. Zhang He is in charge of the defense of our campaign. He is not one to be underestimated. He also backed up by competent officers and numbers with ample supplies. We will have to feign defeat, and fall back. There are not enough supplies for our army to continue. Strategy is all that is needed to win battles, however, it looks like this is the first battle that I will have to personally deal with myself.

Lu Bu: Heh....Just let me at em. All I need is my Sky Scorcher and Red Hare! Their army is nothing by a swarm of ants, waiting to be crushed!

Zhuge Liang: Do not underestimate the challenge that we are faced with. Zhang He is a most capable commander of Wei, and he is supported by a competent army. Their morale is high and have set up camps in strategic locations hinting a pincer formation, should we charge out unprepared. Red Hare is also not accustomed to the treacherous terrain. I will deal with this battle myself.

Lu Bu: Silence! There is none in this land that can match my skill!

Zhuge Liang: (I can whoop ur ass....)

Lu Bu: Just lemme at em. I will bring back all of their heads.

Zhuge Liang: What will you do against their archers, set up in ambush within the mountain cliffs?

Lu Bu: Ridiculous! They are nothing by fodder!

Zhuge Liang; (lolzzz.....sigh) I will let you assist me. Here, take this armor that I have just invented. It will allow you become resilient to arrows. I will allow you to come, but you must act according to plan, otherwise, we will not succeed.

Lu Bu: rollz eyes

Zhuge Liang: There are a few things you can help with. It is most beneficial if I am not deal with moving targets. Your task is to dismount the generals and stun them so that I may capture them in one swift Musou. If you can eradicate the archer hordes as you go, it will be most useful in our struggle.

Lu Bu: gotcha! Wutever lets go.

Zhuge Liang: We will strike from, and retreat into the west valley. From there, the Wei army is limited to one direction of invasion, and their numbers count for nothing. The terrain is flat and favorable here. There is one attack base that may make it difficult for us. I want you to capture the attack base, and meet me at the entrance of the west valley.

Zhuge Liang can deal with Mt Qi very well on his own, and probably debatable to actually be better on his own. A coop with Lu Bu can be better, but it requires quite a bit of chemistry and planning between the two players.....not to mention the crappy loading. The nature of the challenge ends up being played optimally by focusing on the mini map and reading and anticipating where the crowds actually are, because they do not show up on screen sometimes, when they are actually there. Giving the Musou Armor to Lu Bu is a good idea. This really does make him resilient to the arrow attacks, so he can actually attack quite recklessly. Being flinched by an arrow can instantly mean the end, especially with the abundance of mounted officers in this stage. One of the main benefits of this 2P coop is Lu Bu donating the Musou Rages to Zhuge Liang. While not on YouTube, there are many videos showing Mt Qi "domination", but with time consuming cowardly methods involving luring all the officers to one area and abusing Musou Rage with the Demon Band. However, these may be maximized methods in some cases where the officers can be dealt with quickly in one Musou Rage. In this case, it must offset the time required to lure all the officers (boring). The Top Tier Zhuge Liang doesn't really need the Musou Rages, but they certainly help when the scenarios turn into multiple mounted officers backed up by archer hordes. It should be obvious to note that while Lu Bu can assist with mounted officers, he interferes with directing the attention of crowds towards him and interferes with too much crowd clearing, making it hard for Zhuge Liang to Musou fill. Ideally, Lu Bu also can't deal with archer completely, at the same time. But ultimately, it should be realized that it is possible but VERY hard, for this 2P pair to surpass the performance of a solo Zhuge Liang.
