3 Effective TFL Stretches (Tensor Fascia Latae) | Immediate Hip Pain Relief

Follow
Coach Sofia

Here are 3 amazing stretches to release the TFL (tensor fascial latae) to get fast relief from hip tightness, hip pain, and to improve hip mobility.
The TFL is a small muscle that tightens up pretty quickly. One of its main roles is to stabilize the pelvis and facilitates knee stability through the IT band. In this video, I'll explain how to locate the TFL, and the effective way to go about releasing the TFL through selfmyofascial release and stretching.

The TFL stretches we'll be going through are:
1: Standing TFL Stretch
2: Side Lying TFL Stretch
3: Active TFL stretch
But first, don't forget to spend a few minutes on the foam roller to release trigger points.
Side plank on this roller
Cross the top leg over the left for support
We start by rolling the hips forward and back to find a tender spot.
Hold for about 20 seconds
If the stretch feels a bit too much we can regress this by bending the bottom knee to break the stretch.
