Rehab Science

Today's video covers exercises for femoral nerve pain and other symptoms such as numbness and tingling. Irritation of the lateral femoral cutaneous branch of the femoral nerve can lead to a condition called meralgia paresthetica.

The femoral nerve originates in the low back (lumbar spine) and is made up of nerve roots L24. The femoral nerve has both motor and sensory functions. The motor branches help control hip flexion (psoas major and iliacus muscles) and knee extension (quadriceps). The sensory branches provide touch, pain and temperature sensations to the anterior and medial thigh regions.
