Almost every industry is having trouble recruiting quality people.

If you own a restaurant, you're probably not too pleased with your back of the house. If you own a construction business, nobody wants to be an apprentice.

Let’s face it. Most young folks don't want to get their hands dirty.

But I’m going to give you a little trick.

If you bring people in to just make widgets, one after another and nothing more, many think the only way you're going to bring people in is to pay them disproportionately, knowing that they're going to leave at some point.

You can create something that's educational for folks where you are teaching them new skillsets:

Teach workers how to go out and sell, how to become purchasing agents, how to perform quality control, how to drive a truck and carry out deliveries, etc.

People need to come into a manufacturing environment with the optimism and the vision that this job is going to help them grow and develop over time.

If you do that, you will bring new people in. Once you have your team, it's up to you to train them and make them feel special, provide them opportunity, and allow them to grow and develop

If you do those things, you will bring quality candidates into your working environment and have a much easier time keeping them.
