We can use the strategy draw a diagram to classify plane shapes by drawing a Venn diagram. A Venn diagram is a diagram that shows relationships among sets of things. The section where two circles overlap is where the things are alike, they share traits from both. Venn diagrams help us sort and classify things. We use a Venn diagram to help us find what type of quadrilateral is both a rectangle and a rhombus. We find where a given shape belongs in a Venn diagram. And Venn diagrams can be used to compare more than two sets of objects by having 3 circles that overlap. We put shapes into an empty Venn diagram that has the labels Triangles, and Polygons with a Right Angle.
