3rd Grade Math 5.5 Multiply 1-Digit Numbers by Multiples of 10

Follow
JoAnns School

We model multiplying 1digit whole numbers by multiples of 10 by using base ten blocks, drawing a quick picture, or by using place value and regrouping. A multiple is the product of two counting numbers. If one of the factors is a multiple of 10, the product will be a multiple of 10 and it will have a zero in its ones place. We solve a twostep word problem which involves multiplication and subtraction. We discuss how a multiple is the product of two counting numbers, and how some counting numbers have multiples in common with each other.
