The eucalyptus forests of Australia make up key habitats for a variety of endemic Australian animals, including the most famous of all the marsupials including of course koalas and kangaroos / wallabies. The Koalas have specialised in eating leaves from a number of different eucalyptus species! Fallen trees then form habitat for a variety of invertebrates, including scorpions and ants, as well as reptiles (in this episode we feature the coral snake! ) ! If it wasn't for a large population of ants and termites in the forest, the famous echidna wouldn't have food, which it uses its long sticky tongue to catch large numbers per day this unique egg laying mammal was a surprise encounter in this episode! At the top of the food chain are the monitor lizards and there is a specialised arboreal large species called the lace monitor! Hope you enjoy the episode with all these Australian Animals!!
