Donald Lambie's lecture in Trinidad in October 2023 addresses the subject of speech. Everyone faces a point where they have to decide to be truthful.

One Vedic maxim says: One should speak the truth;
one should speak what is pleasant.
One should not speak what is true but unpleasant;
one should not speak what is pleasant but untrue.

Speaking truthfully and pleasantly is not always so easy. It's easy to want to impress or please people.

But there is also the issue of where speech comes from. It can some from different levels. At its most superficial, it is just chatter from the mouth. At a slightly deeper level a person can speak with conviction. At another level speech can be heartfelt. And at its deepest, it is coming from the innermost self of a person.


The School of Philosophy and Economic Science offers courses in practical philosophy and economics with justice as well as other subjects. It aims to approach philosophy in a practical way, encouraging students to apply philosophy in their lives. The School also introduces a mindfulnesstype exercise leading eventually to mantra meditation.
