The Magic Of Math

In this video lesson we will discover that when a linear equation is solved for y it is written in slopeintercept form. We will learn that slopeintercept form is y=mx + b where m represents the slope of the line and b represents the yintercept of the line. Our essential question will ask us to think about what is true about all yintercepts. We will learn that the xcoordinate of ANY yintercept is 0 and that the ordered pair for any yintercept is (0, b). We will learn the 4 steps to graphing a linear equation in slopeintercept form. Step 1: Identify the slope and yintercept of the line. Step 2: Plot the yintercept. Step 3: Using the slope and rise over run, rise and run from the yintercept and plot a second point. Step 4: Connect the two points with a line. Student practice is embedded in the video with modeled exemplar solutions.
