Welcome aboard the Railjet Xpress (RJX) of our Austrian colleagues of Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB)! Switzerland is a small country in the middle of Europe and Zurich is a hub for international trains in all neighbouring countries and beyond. The Railjet Xpress connects Zurich with Vienna (Wien), with stops at major cities in between. One daily connection even extends as far as Budapest in Hungary. It takes less than 8 hours for the train to arrive in the center of Vienna, while passing through beautiful alpine scenery in eastern Switzerland and western Austria. Later on, in the Austrian plains, the train reaches speeds of up to 230km/h and is therefore considered a highspeed train. Our job today is to drive the train to Buchs SG, where a colleague of ÖBB will take over and continue through Liechtenstein into Austria.

The cooperation between SBB and ÖBB doesn't stop there, all Nightjet sleeper trains in Europe are operated by ÖBB and connect Zurich with Prague, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Zagreb and many other places in Europe. These trains are also driven by SBB personnel while in Switzerland. Today, we're riding by day though, so sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery on our first Raijet cab ride!
