【4K】Who Says Bike Commuting in Bangkok is Dangerous? (When You Know All the Shortcuts)

Bangkok Street Cyclists

In this video, I had an opportunity to share what cycling morning routine looks like for P'Pop, the founder of a Bicycle Advocacy page: "Pun Palang Buak". We went from MRT Suthisan Station, close by to where P'Pop lives, going through shortcuts along the canal to go to the local market purchasing takeaway lunch. The traffic condition especially for smaller alleyways was surprisingly quite calm and very easy to ride on. The alleyways leading to the nearby canal community serves as a shortcut helping us to bypass the oftenunpleasant morning traffic on a larger road.

If P'Pop had chosen to drive doing the same morning routine in the area, it would cost him additional 20 minutes finding parking and remaining stuck in traffic. Bicycle commute was a way more convenient choice for him going by shortcuts and cutting his commute time. This had inspired him to found a Facebook Advocacy page named: "Pun Palang Buak" to encourage cycling commute as means of conveniently going around town.

About the Channel:
The 'Bangkok Street Cyclists.' showcases 4K videos of individuals on bicycles as a means of urban commute to save money, save time and save our deteriorating environment. The channel’s vision is simple: Bangkok street belongs to the people, not environmentallyunfriendly cars. Until the day comes when a city like Bangkok is blessed with dedicated cycling paths or is entirely carfree, we will persist in navigating our ride through the challenges of bad traffic, unpredictable drivers, urban pollution, and scorching heat.
