The Parthian period is one of the brightest and undeservedly forgotten pages in the history of the Middle East and Central Asia. Contrary to the popular disparaging opinion of ancient authors, the Parthian Empire was not at all a "barbarian Scythian horde". A sophisticated culture flourished in the vast metropolitan areas, and the political order created by the Parthians outlived this state for a long time. How, from a small tribe lost in the Great Steppe, did the nomadic parny become a world empire, on an equal footing with the great Rome? The latest archaeological discoveries and achievements of Iranian studies will help reveal the amazing story of the heyday of Parthian history. Today we will talk about the first period of the formation of Parthia from its inception to the era of Mithridates I.
