As we inch closer to the end of the school year, it can feel harder to grab the attention of our entire class. Old ways of teaching might not work. I share with you various quick and easy things I will do in the classroom to get their attention. Some of these teaching strategies include: 3,2,1 countdown, involving students in surveying and quick polls before a lesson, bringing out a strange object to grab their attention, and deducting points from a class incentive system we have in place. These teaching tips are helpful for Juniors and Seniors as well as the other secondary grade levels.

My name is Alexa Borota and I am a high school English teacher; I also taught middle school English Language Arts. I teach in a title l school in New Jersey. I am also a mom, grad student, and writer.

My goals are to share tips for teachers. Teaching is less stressful when we are supporting each other and sharing' our best practices. When I was a new teacher, I wanted to know how other teachers were delivering lessons and what their classroom management routines were. I hope my content is helpful for both new and seasoned teachers.
