Finally, after 3 long years, we can return to Canada via the Remote Area Border Crossing (RABC) program! We head out on a 5Day backcountry canoe fishing trip to Quetico Provincial Park in search of Lake Trout for just two days before the season closes. On October 1st, we continue on to fish and explore forest fire burned areas of the park that were ablaze one year ago.

Part one is our first full day in the park and we have the second half of the day to target these Canadian lake sharks. The wind makes fishing very difficult on the main body of the lake, but we hide from the wind behind a peninsula and fish a very productive pinch point chocked full of lakers.

Day one is more than we could have hoped for with more than a dozen lake trout caught, some bonus smallmouth bass, and a gorgeous sunset to end the day. A hearty lake trout and venison dinner cooked over the fire, beneath the Quetico sky filled with stars, was the perfect end to a nearperfect day in the park.
