This video answers the questions: Are there ways that low extraversion is better than high extraversion? (Is there an upside to being an introvert as opposed to being an extrovert?)

One of the things we hear about extraversion all the time is how it’s more socially desirable. Research supports this general concept, that all things being equal, high extraversion imparts advantages at a social level. However, just because extraversion is more socially desirable doesn’t mean it’s more desirable in every way.

I cover the six ways being an introvert is better and align these ways with the six facets of extraversion.

The six facets of extraversion:

1. Warmth: friendly, kind
2. Gregariousness: talkative, spontaneous, outgoing
3. Assertiveness: confident, enthusiastic, aggressive, dominating
4. Activity: energetic, always want to be busy, in a hurry
5. Excitementseeking: adventurous, courageous, bold
6. Positive Emotions: optimistic, cheerful, happy
