When writing an introduction paragraph, there are three parts that are needed. A good hook and some background information before writing a thesis statement. The purpose of a hook is to make the readers want to read more. There are several different ways to do this: surprise the reader, ask a question, descriptive words, facts or statistics, definitions, or use quotation.
