苗栗縣沿海50幾海哩海岸線有11處漁港
通霄漁港位處台灣中部海岸海床坡度平緩但是潮差大。
當地漁筏一般均在沿岸、近海從事流刺網漁業當日往返
也因為屬於候潮港所以需要等漲潮船才有辦法進出
天氣好的時候漁民可以每天出海作業
漁船回港時間不太一定通霄漁港漁民回港之後
漁獲一上岸就會運往通霄國小對面由區公所規劃的漁貨攤販集中區的漁夫市集販售
開賣時間大約在早上6點開始
由漁民自產自銷以台斤計價
是當地人才知道的現流漁獲採買地點
現流的新鮮海產數量雖然不多但都是在地當季的漁獲價錢公道鮮度一流。

There are 11 fishing ports along the more than 50 miles of coastline in Miaoli County. Tongxiao Fishing Port is located on the central coast of Taiwan, with a gently sloping sea bed but large tidal differences. Local fishing rafts generally engage in flow net fishing in coastal and nearshore areas, with daily round trips. As it is a tidewaiting port, it needs to wait for the tide to enter and exit. When the weather is good, fishermen can go to sea every day. The return time of fishing boats is not certain. After the fishermen return to Tongxiao Fishing Port, the catch will be transported to the Fisherman's Market, which is located across from Tongxiao Elementary School and is planned by the district office. The sale starts at around 6 o'clock in the morning, and it is sold by the fishermen themselves and priced by Taiwan's weight. It is a local insider spot for purchasing fresh seafood caught on the day. Although the quantity of fresh seafood caught on the day is not large, it is all locally caught inseason catch, with reasonable prices and excellent freshness.
