After my previous videos on electric watches and the more general history of digital watches, I wanted to dive deeper into the particular journey of Casio. This takes us way back to the origins of calculators , Casios move into this space with the relay calculator and catching up with their Japanese competitors Sharp, Canon and Busicom during the calculator wars of the 70s.

We map their move into the watch market with the Casiotron in an attempt to diversify and compete with the established Seiko, Orient and Citizen. Casio start to get a foot in the game of watches with new complications, including alarms, chronographs, calculator watches and world time. I hope you enjoy the video.
