This video explains a crucial concept in the mid lane in order to slowly turn the advantage towards your favor. It explains the importance of building advantage from level 12 onwards in the first 4 waves by using creep aggro to ranged creep and punishing enemies as they move in to take the creep.

PS, do note that this is matchup dependent as well hence the title 95% of the time as an unfavorable matchup like Ember Spirit into Shadow Fiend would still require much more in depth laning skills, for instance trading only when Shadow Fiend's razes have been used on creeps etc..
