Katarina Ziervogel is an OjibwayMohawk woman born in Edmonton and a member Sagkeeng First Nation. She moved to Winnipeg when she was ten and it was there she began her career as a screenwriter. Being deaf does not prevent Katarina from following her dreams, including cowriting her first feature film, Finality of Dusk, and serving as the deaf consultant for the deaf actors and the other cast and crew on the set. Katarina’s first writing job was working on Taken, a series about missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, on which she was also an actor. Katarina is also an advocate for mental health. Now a highly soughtafter creative talent, who has won awards for her work and advocacy, what will Katarina do next to teach the world about deaf culture and accessibility?
