Dedicated to the memory of Joyce Elizabeth Holden
September 6, 1932 January 21, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joyce Holden, devoted wife, loving mother, registered nurse who will be sadly missed.

Joyce embarked on a notable career in healthcare graduating as a registered nurse and valedictorian from St. John General Hospital, New Brunswick in 1955. Her commitment to her profession led to further studies in New York City specializing in operating room management where she graduated at top of her class. Her passion for nursing took a new turn when she joined the RCAF as a nursing sister and was posted to Cold Lake Alberta in charge of the operating room. It was here that she met and married Ron, the love of her life, and marked the beginning of a remarkable journey together. They have three children Patricia, James and Thomas, and five grandchildren Ben and Tommy, Mackenzie and Sydney, and Emily.

They were to celebrate 65 years of marriage on January 24, 2024, during which time their lives were filled with adventure, extensive travel across North America and Europe until finally settling on the family farm in Oldcastle in 1981.

An active member of St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Joyce's presence was a source of strength in the community. Her keen sense of humour, love for family and unwavering spirit left an impact on everyone she met.

Predeceased by her sister Norma, Joyce leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She is survived by her brothers Owen and Thane along with her family and friends who will profoundly miss her. As we mourn this loss, we also celebrate her remarkable life, filled with love, service, and an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.

Her family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all who have been part of her journey and invite them to share their memories and celebrate her life. Joyce's life was a testament to the power of kindness, dedication and love, and she will forever be remembered for these qualities.

I am proud to be a member of the Canadian #Aviation Museum (formerly CH2A).
They are a notforprofit organization that anybody can visit, and (almost) any pilot can join and fly the planes. Please consider sharing their link, visiting the museum in Windsor, and/or sending a small donation to help them keep our historic warbirds flying!

Luke is my main #Aerobatic mentor and I’ve been working with him since ~2015.

FLIGHT CHOPS DISCLAIMER:

I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 20 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.
