9.3 Fluid Dynamics | General Physics

Chads Prep

Chad provides a physics lesson on fluid dynamics. The lesson begins with the definitions and descriptions of laminar flow (aka streamline flow) and turbulent flow. He then identifies the four characteristics of an ideal fluid and contrasts that with viscous flow as described by Poiseuille's Law. The lesson then progresses to the more calculation intensive portion with flow rate, the equation of continuity, and Bernoulli's equation. Chad first shows how to use the equation of continuity to calculate the fluid velocity when the crosssectional area of a pipe changes. Then Chad completes the lesson by solving two Bernoulli's equation practice problems, one that demonstrates the Venturi Effect.
